ENSIDER:NEWS
The "Forum Media Academy" (now: Ensider.net GmbH) was founded 40 years ago in October. The "Munich Film Industry Forum" has been considered a profile-setting conference for the company and Munich as a film location for decades. On October 6, 2022, the "Film Industry Forum" will enter a new round with a top cast and well-known moderation and will shed light on current challenges and opportunities. Prof. Dr. Klaus Schaefer and his guests on the panel will venture a look into the new year. The supporting program once again promises a comprehensive 360-degree view of our industry. Special thanks go to the FFF FilmFernsehFonds Bayern for once again sponsoring this film industry summit.
The recognition of exceptional achievements in television and digital media is taking on a new look. The redesign and reorganization of the sponsorship are logically followed by a fresh program idea. This year, the awards ceremony will take place for the first time in the BMW Welt, in the middle of the traditional ensemble at Munich's Olympic Park. Voting for the audience awards has now begun. International Film Partners is the contact for industry partnerships.
The capital market is to blame for the streamer boom. The explanation for the current developments at the major studios could be that simple. Subscription services suggest to investors that revenues are supposedly secure. These are then valued at a higher factor and lead to easier access to capital for the providers. The studios were able to write off high production costs for films through their own streaming services. The correction of Netflix shares and the overwhelming success of classic blockbusters in the cinema are having an effect. The really big companies believe in the power of the big screen again. If the cinema regains its importance, that is good news, especially for independent film producers.
The raw material of the film industry is people. Pragmatic solutions, creative ideas and teamwork are what characterize typical employees. The problem, as elsewhere, is simply the number of available specialists. Headhunters are not yet being used to recruit staff members, but the commitment of production companies is visibly increasing. In order to be able to meet personnel requirements successfully and reliably in a more attractive way than the competition, there is now also a completely new concept. Gold!
When rental DVDs were still being sent by mail in Germany, Netflix was already flickering across screens in America. Trends in the entertainment industry often have their origins in the USA. A look to Hollywood is therefore also a glimpse of what may come. Participants of past delegation trips to California, organized by International Film Partners, benefit from this knowledge advantage and the opportunities to maintain and expand their own network. In 2022, it will finally be that time again. A look into the future.
Specialists in the creative industries often, but not always, have something to do with talent. Conversely, talent often, but not always, refers to the "creatives". The freelance artist already had a special position in ancient Rome. Artistic self-realization requires talent and is not equated with "work" in the sense of "slaving" imposed by others. Especially when it comes to "work-life balance", and this is often what recruiting is about, we should take a closer look at "work". Is the rigid separation between work and leisure time appropriate everywhere in the creative industries? Automation is changing the fields of activity of employees. Initially only in factories, but now thinking machines are also displacing clerks. Especially in logistics and catering, where the call for staff is loudest, there is no shortage of skilled workers, but rather assistants. What does all this mean for the film and television industry? Who is still concerned with the question that used to be all-important: "How do I become rich and famous?"
